FALL 2009 This fall Chicago Fire players had some outstanding experiences and honors during the fall months August through October.
Chicago Fire Juniors
• CFJ fielded 47 teams in these months; 22 boys and 25 girls teams.
• The club attended 16 tournaments hosting 12 tournament titles and placing 16 finalists
• CFJ fielded 7 MRL teams (U14 Boys Pre-Academy, U15 Girls Red 11, U16 Girls Red 11, U16 Girls Red, U17 Girls Red 11, U18 Girls Red 11, and U18 Girls Red) including one in the MRL Premier (U16 Girls Red 11)
• Neuqua Valley High School Boys Soccer, a team where the overwhelming majority of players were CFJ players, was ranked #2 in the country
• CFJ players Cynthia Pineda, Andres Torres, AJ Jeffries all attend US Youth National Camps.
• CFJ Coach Greg Muhr coached at U14 Girls National ID Camp
• Chicago Fire Premier Alumni Jonathan Spector, Ricardo Clark, Brad Guzan, and Jay DeMerritt help the US Men’s National Team qualify for the 2010 World Cup
• Soccer America names Chicago Fire 13th in the Top 40 Boys Clubs in the country
• CFJ hosted the National Soccer Ranking’s Gold Cup in Naperville
• CFJ Director of Business operations Ady Grey was married!
Chicago Fire Premier
• The Chicago Fire PDL team finished as National Finalist in the USL PDL League and the Super 20s qualified for the play-offs
• U13 and U16 boys Chicago Fire Super Y League teams qualified for the USL Super Y League Nationals
WINTER 2009-10 This winter starting the month of November CFJ’s U15 through U18 boys returned from their high schools to start their club seasons. The high school girls return to their high school teams at the end of winter.
Chicago Fire Juniors
• CFJ added a U7 boys program, a U8 boys team, and two U8 Girls teams with the 23 of the 26 new players from the club’s youth programs making the total number of CFJ teams 64 with 37 boys teams and 27 girls teams.
• CFJ has attended the Veteran’s Invitational (IN), CASL Girls College Showcase (NC), CASL Boys College Showcase (NC), and the Final Four Girls College Showcase (TX), Orange Classic College Showcase (FL), Disney Girls College Showcase (FL) and Disney Boys College Showcase (FL). In addition, the U14 Boys Pre-Academy played a series of friendly pre-academy games in St. Louis. Coming up this winter is Score at the Shore (FL), Barrington College Showcase, Crossroads (IN), Ohio Elite College Showcase (OH) Dynamo Round Robin (IN), and Dallas Cup (TX).
• The U16 Girls Red 11 won Disney while the U18 Girls Red 11 go undefeated at Orange Classic.
• This spring will have 8 teams playing MRL in the spring (U14 Boys Pre-Academy, U15 Boys Development Academy, U16 Boys Development Academy, U17 Boys Development Academy, U18 Boys Development Academy 1 and 2, U16 Girls Year Round, and U18 Girls Year Round) including 3 teams in the MRL Premier (U15 Boys Development Academy, U16 Boys Development Academy, and U18 Boys Development Academy 1).
• 48 CFJ players make Olympic Development Program teams
• CFJ sends 5 players attend ODP Inter-Regional in Orlando, FL
• Max Jones and Mitch Reavis named to Region II 1994 roster for Disney Showcase Super Group
• CFJ sends 4 players to the US Club Regional id2 Camp. Colin Fernandez from the U13 Boys Pre-Academy was selected as 1 of 18 players nationally for the US Club international trip
• National Soccer Rankings.com names CFJ the 8th best boys club in the country
Chicago Fire Academy
• Chris Prince and Brian Ciesiulka both CFJ products now in the U18 Academy were named NSCAA High School All-Americans
• Chicago Fire Academy attends the USSF Academy Winter Showcase with 4 players selected for the Academy select team round robin
Chicago Fire Premier
• The U16 and U13 Super Y Boys attended USL Super Y Nationals in Orlando, FL. Fire forward Christian Henock named to the U13 Boys All Tournament Team.
• Chicago Fire PDL Player Andre Akpan was named Ivy League Player of the Year, named to the Hermann Trophy semi-finalist list for the third year running, and named as 1 of 3 Hermann Trophy Finalist (winner announced in January 2010)
• Chicago Fire PDL sent 10 players to the MLS combine
• National Soccer Rankings.com names CFJ the 8th best boys club in the country
